New Horizon Counseling Center IPS Employment Specialist in 11432, New York
The IPS Employment Specialist utilizes the Individualized Placement and Support (IPS) model to identify and assist individuals primarily in Queens, NY (from two assertive community treatment teams and a CORE program) to achieve their vocational goals.
Identify consumers who have a vocational goal, assess consumers vocational preferences and readiness, support consumers in finding and maintaining employment, provide benefits counseling;
Develop network and relationships with local employers for job development;
Collaborate with individuals' support networks as needed to promote progress and success in their vocational goal;
Use motivational interviewing, recovery and trauma-informed approaches when delivering services;
Complete ongoing training as required by the Office of Mental Health and New Horizon Counseling Center
Provide at least 65% percent of services in the community, including but not limited to: conducting clients' visits in their residence, shelter, community locations, and networking with local employers for job development
serve as an advocate and liaison for clients in vocational, workplace and educational settings.
participating in the development of comprehensive and 6 month service plans
participating in all daily, weekly and other staff meetings as directed by the Team leader and/or psychiatrist
Complete all required progress notes and recording data relevant to responsibilities and the effective operations and delivery of ACT services
Work effectively with clients' support system and providers
addressing individual client needs for problem-solving, wellness self-management, housing, income
support, education and vocational training, social supports, employment, and primary care
provide culturally competent services
have computer skills necessary to meet online reporting and documentation requirements, referrals, research and data reporting
The Employment Specialist must have experience in vocational assessment, job exploration, and skills development in choosing, getting, and maintaining employment.
